  • How to Feed Hedgehogs in Your Garden

    1. What to Offer
      • Love Your Pet Ferret & Hedgehog Feast is dry hedgehog food specifically formulated for their dietary needs and packed with chicken protein and free from artificial additives.
    2. Portion Size
      • Adults: Offer 2–3 tablespoons of dry food per night.
      • Hoglets (Young Hedgehogs): Offer slightly smaller portions, around 1–2 tablespoons.
      • Always provide fresh food each evening to avoid attracting pests.
    3. Feeding Time
      • Hedgehogs are nocturnal, so place food out just before dusk. They are most active in the evening and early hours of the morning.
    4. Location
      • Place the food in a quiet, sheltered spot, ideally under a feeding station or a covered area to keep it dry and safe from predators.
      • Hedgehog feeding stations can be made from a plastic storage box or wooden crate with an entrance hole (approx. 13cm wide).
    5. Fresh Water
      • Always provide a shallow dish of fresh water alongside the food. Avoid giving milk as it can upset their stomachs.
    6. Clean-Up
      • Remove uneaten food each morning to prevent attracting pests like rats or other unwanted visitors. Clean the feeding area regularly to maintain hygiene.

  • FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONS

    For Ferrets꞉
Free‐feed as ferrets have high metabolisms and benefit from small, frequent
meals. Alternatively, provide 50–75g per day for an average adult ferret
    (depending on size and activity).
    For Hedgehogs꞉
Portion꞉ Offer 1–2 tablespoons (15–25g) of food per day, adjusted based on
    weight and activity level.
Serve food dry, as both ferrets and hedgehogs prefer crunchy kibble that
supports dental health. Store food in a cool, dry place to preserve freshness.
Regularly check each animal’s body condition to ensure they are not over or
underweight. Limit treats to no more than 10% of daily intake, ensuring they align
    with their dietary needs.
